"Voltron" Heads To Big Screen

The producers behind "Get Smart" and "The International" have acquired the rights to make a live-action feature based on the Japanese robot lion property "Voltron."

Based on Japanese anime properties Beast King GoLion and Kikou Kantai Dairugger XV, "Voltron" features a "Transformers"like robot, in which a band of five robot-lions combine to form one super robot. A group of five pilots control the lions, which are charged with defending the planet Arus from villain King Zarkon, who dispatches evil creatures called Robobeats to fight the Voltron robots.

Poster Revealed for Imagi's Gatchaman AKA G-Force

A photo of a new poster for Imagi Studios' Gatchaman, to be distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures. The poster features Joe Asakura, the second-in-command of the superhero ninja team. "Gatchaman" originated in Japan in the early 1970s as the television series "Science Ninja Team Gatchaman." Aired in the U.S. as "Battle of the Planets" and "G-Force," it soon became a widely popular syndicated TV series.

Sin City Sequel Up For Grab?

The sequel rights to "Sin City," Frank Miller's popular noir comic, are being shopped around Hollywood, in what appears to be a sign that Dimension Films has lost rights to the property. The Weinstein Co./Dimension continue to maintain that they hold the rights to any sequel for the Robert Rodriguez film, which grossed $159 million worldwide when it came out in 2005. sincity2

But producers say they have been shopped the rights by reps for Miller's estate, who they say are seeking a new place to set up a potential follow-up.
