He is the son of Debra Antney, Gucci Mane's manager and CEO of So Icey/Mizay Entertainment. Malphurs moved with his family from New York to Riverdale, Georgia when he was nine years old. As a child, drug dealers and basketball players were his role models. |

Michael Stevenson (born November 19, 1989), better known by his stage name Tyga (Thank You God Always), is an rapper. Tyga was born Michael Stevenson on November 19, 1989, in Compton, California. He is of Jamaican and Vietnamese descent, and a cousin of Travis McCoy, the lead vocalist of the group Gym Class Heroes. He achieved his first recognition opening for Fall Out Boy and Gym Class Heroes during the Young Wild Things Tour in late 2007. His first single, "Coconut Juice," was released in 2008 and was directed by Rage. His first mixtape, No Introduction the Series: April 10, was released online in April. The second part to the series, No Introduction the Series: May 10, was released in May. |

These lyrics tend to focus on revolution, veganism, institutional racism, critical pedagogy, police, capitalism, education, prison systems, religion, activism against governmental repression, and corporate control over the media, especially hip-hop record labels. Dead Prez made their stance clear on their first album, declaring on the lead song, "I'm a African" that the group is "somewhere between N.W.A. and P.E." |

Locally in K-town and all Chicago, he is a member of Vice Lords gang but many say he is on good terms with other Folk Nation gangs. Before starting his professional career, however, he had several other jobs, including working at a factory, selling shoes, telemarketing, working at McDonald's, working as a security guard, and cutting hair. |
